Osceola Wisconsin is situated on the bluffs of one of mid-America’s most beautiful waterways, the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, and is less than 40 miles northeast of the Twin Cities. Along with the St. Croix River, Osceola is blessed with the natural beauty of historic Cascade Falls, an impressive waterfall located in a park at the south end of the business district.

There is a balance of recreation, tourism, business and industry that makes Osceola an attractive place to live and work. Osceola is one of the fastest growing communities in western Wisconsin.

Points of Interest

  • Osceola Depot. A wonderfully restored depot in Osceola built in 1916 to replace an earlier wooden structure. Train tickets are sold at the ticket window and the baggage room now houses a store for souvenirs and refreshments.
  • Osceola & St. Croix Valley Railway. Trains regularly run from April – October on Saturdays, Sunday and Holidays. There are two round trips from Osceola to Marine and two round trips from Osceola to Dresser.
  • Cascade Falls in Osceola. Scenic waterfall in downtown Osceola located west of Cascade Street.
  • Chateau St. Croix Winery/Vineyard. Hwy. 87 north of St. Croix Falls. Retail shop, art gallery, reception hall, picnic area, walking trails, tours, wine tasting. www.chateaustcroix.com 715-483-2556.
  • Emily Olson House. Located at 408 River Street, Osceola. This home was a wedding gift from Andrew J. Clark to his wife Emily Salisbury in 1862. The family inhabited the home for over 100 years. In 1986, the home became the Osceola Library for a time. The home is now the headquarters of the Osceola Historical Society.
  • Franconia Sculpture Park in Shafer, Minnesota. A innovative model that combines the integration of artists at work and exhibition hall all in one venue. It is an outdoor, rotating collection of over 75 contemporary sculptures.
  • Gammelgarden Museum and Volkommen Hus. A repository of Swedish immigrant history, traditions and culture. Special events year round. 651-433-5053.
  • Interstate Park in St. Croix Falls. Old Man of the Dalles and Pothole Trails are features created during the glacial period. Many walking trails through both the Wisconsin and Minnesota sides. Ice Age Interpretive Center is located on the Wisconsin side.
  • St. Croix Art Barn, Osceola. Live theater, concerts, gallery shows, and workshops open May – October in a 200-seat theater and gallery all housed in a renovated 100-year-old-barn. Activities for children and adults of all ages. www.stcroixartbarn.com

  • The St. Croix ArtBarn is a bi-state community arts organization. Guilds include theater, visual arts, music, writing, dance and storytelling. ArtBarn’s home is a 100-year-old dairy barn that has been renovated into a theater and art gallery.   • St. Croix Festival Theater is a professional, non-profit, regional theater providing the best in performing arts to residents of and visitors to the St. Croix Valley area. The theater is located in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin in the historic Auditorium Theater, a 1917 vaudeville playhouse offering a fully equipped 263 seat performance space and lovely café with outdoor patio for refreshments.
